Happy 1st Anniversary

Landlord James Miller is celebrating 12 months since taking on the Fox and Goose.

A Staffordshire Moorlands local, James took on the pub and restaurant in late April 2025.

James is passionate about great food and good beer, and both are freely available at the Fox and Goose.

You will find hearty Sunday lunches and a varied a la carte menu. There are four hand pull beers on the bar, with two well-kept standards, Bass and Timothy Taylor Landlord, complimented by cask ale hand-picked by James from around the UK. There’s a strong range of cider and lagers too, and a well-stocked fridge full of craft beer.

James will be a familiar face to many customers from the local area. He grew up nearby and like many local his first job was at Alton Towers, filling the teddy grab machines!

James has run pubs locally and loves the hospitality trade. We all know the trade has had a hard time lately, but James has no regrets in taking on the Fox and Goose, he’s a natural host.

Others may know James through the music scene. He has played in bands and is a keen record collector. Sunday nights are music nights at the Fox and Goose and James takes care to find both local and international talent to entertain our customers.

Some of you may have even met James in his other role as an insurance expert. He previously had an office and Alton and now works as a Commercial Insurance Specialist with one of the largest insurance intermediaries in the UK and Ireland.

James said: “Taking on the Fox and Goose and growing our customer base has been a pleasure. I love good food and good beer, so this is definitely a passion project for me. At the Fox and Goose, we’re always striving to improve our offering. It’s a privilege to run a pub at the heart of a beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands village. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy our pub and restaurant.”
