Proud to Support Local Produce

Eat local at the Fox and Goose

At the Fox and Goose, we are committed to shopping local and reducing food miles where possible.

A survey showed a dish like Shepherd’s Pie can travel over 27,000 miles on its journey from field to fork.

That’s why we work with local suppliers where we can.

On our menu, you will find steaks and burgers from the butchery at Dunwood Farm.

Based just a stones throw from Foxt at Rudyard, Dunwood is a 170-acre all grass farm. The Pearson family has farmed there since 1973, working with native cattle breeds. Small herds of Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and Longhorn cattle, complement Dunwood’s traditional farming methods, and produce exceptional tasting beef.

In the 1990s, Dunwood started selling boxes of beef, primarily to friends and family, and having received excellent feedback, business grew.

The butchery now sells to gastro pubs and restaurants in Staffordshire, Derbyshire, and surrounding areas, concentrating on supplying the highest quality, flavourful produce.Traceability is essential as are the highest welfare standards.

Dunwood Farm say, “when you buy beef from us, it will only ever be rare or native breed, and all steak meat will be dry aged in our Himalayan salt fridge on the bone.”

The Fox and Goose is delighted to have an ongoing, positive partnership with Dunwood Farm. It is important to us to support local producers where we can in our restaurant and on are bar.

Our restaurant is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 5pm to 9pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 12 noon and 9pm.
